OUR ACTIVITIES

We believe that recovery for life is possible… Many clients need reminding of how connected and necessary they are to the world. Beyond individual multi-displinary therapy, Oasis offers a variety of activities to support this.

Research shows that physical activities in nature have positive short and long-term health effects, improving self-esteem and mood. We offer healthy exercise in mountain biking, hiking, horse riding, archery, golf and quad biking. Clients reconnect with the body, creating endorphins and engaging strength and energy in beautiful natural settings.

We find clients connect deeply with wildlife activities, from monkey, bird or wild cat encounters, elephant walks, to whale watching. Learning more about the world, the creatures in it and the critical part we play in it all, stimulates a wonder in the world around them.

There are endless benefits to being in and around water, both physical and psychological. *Psych Central says, “Minerals in the sea air reduce stress; negatively charged ions in the sea air combat free radicals, improving alertness and concentration; salt in the water preserves tryptamine, serotonin and melatonin levels in the brain, which aid in diminishing depression or increasing your overall sense of wellness;

and research has demonstrated that the sounds of waves alter the brain’s wave patterns, producing a state of relaxation.”

Being close to South Africa’s oceans and rivers provides clients with unique access to a variety of water activities. We have a private pool, do daily beach excursions, and regularly organise surfing, canoeing and stand up paddling.

A crucial element of recovery is learning to communicate with yourself and others. We bring in teachers of yoga, art and drama to provide clients with time and skills for introspection and expression.

Oasis takes every aspect of our client into consideration as we develop and create a personalised treatment plan that encourages healing emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
